If you would like to change the look of your couch, simply put a slipcover over it. Now, if you feel that buying slipcovers will simply cost too much money, why not make them yourself. Using regular sheets will get the job done, as long as you place them properly.
First measure the couch all the way from the top to the back and right down to the floor. Add from 10 to 12 inches extra to these measurements, for tucking purposes. Use a flat sheet made of sturdy cotton. Avoid using flannel sheets as they will stretch out eventually. If you are seaming together two sheets, ensure that you use a double stitch so that constant pulling and tugging can be withstood.
Place the new slipcover over the couch and make certain it is spread out evenly. If the slipcover is tucked, place magazines rolled up or PVC pipes inside the crevices deep down so that the extra slipcover material is not visible. If you now find this too much of a hassle, then purchasing one might be the better choice after all.
